  18. The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of version 2 of
  19. the Internet-standard Network Management Framework, termed the SNMP
  20. version 2 framework (SNMPv2).  This framework is derived from the
  21. original Internet-standard Network Management Framework (SNMPv1).
  22. This is a product of the SNMP Version 2 Working Group and the SNMP
  23. Security Working Group of the IETF.

  25. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  26.  
  27. This RFC specifes an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  28. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  29. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  30. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
  31. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.

  33. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
